17th Annual

Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Classic

Honoring Luc Robitaille

Date

September 20, 2010
Location Sherwood Country Club  (visit website)
320 W Strafford Rd
Thousand Oaks, CA

Seventeen years ago, Bob Howard established the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles' Golf Classic. Since its inception, the tournament has raised millions of dollars to support mentor relationships between carefully-screened adult mentors and at-risk youth in our community.

Each year, golfers from throughout Southern California, including many who represent prominent businesses in the area, join together for a premium golfing experience in support of our agency.

Our Golf Classic is perfect for the golf connoisseur. Golfers are greeted in the morning with a coffee reception, enjoy a full day on the green with barbeque lunch provided, and end the day with a hosted 19th Hole premium cocktail reception and an elegant banquet dinner. Also included are green fees, cart and caddie and a Deluxe gift package for each player.

Following the round of ordinary play, 10 players will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive shoot-out for a $235,000 Spyker C8 Laviolette.

During our elegant banquet dinner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles will be honoring our 2010 Partners with Youth Award to Luc Robitaille, President Business Operations for the Los Angeles Kings and member of the National Hockey League Hall of Fame. During 19 seasons in the National Hockey League, including 14 with the Kings, Luc achieved greatness in every sense of the word. In addition to being the highest scoring left wing in National Hockey League history, a mark he set in a Kings uniform, he ranks in the top 10 all-time in goal scoring (668 goals), and is the only left wing ever to record eight consecutive 40-goal seasons (all with the Kings).

However, equally, if not more, important than his unparalleled achievements on the ice, Luc has immersed himself into the Southern California community. Always one of hockey’s most active and accessible players, Luc and his wife Stacia are the co-founders of two charitable organizations, Shelter for Serenity and Echoes of Hope. Much like the goals of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Echoes of Hope strives to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of at-risk, foster and emancipated foster youth by providing the resources, knowledge, skills, love and support they need to reach their full potential. On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the many children it serves, we honor Luc Robitaille for his commitment to the children of Los Angeles.

Join us for an amazing day on the green. Many sponsorship, product placement and marketing benefits are available. For more information, please contact Andrew Dupre at Andrew.Dupre@bbbs.org or by phone at 213-213-2438.

Special thanks to our Golf Committee Chair Lance Etcheverry and Honorary Co-Chairs: Steve Sommer, Bob Howard, John W. Hunter and Jim Jeffs.
